IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:

•  Library Closed Oct. 28 - Note that the Temple Terrace Public Library will be closed on Monday, Oct. 28 for building maintenance.

• Auditor Selection Committee Appointment –The City of Temple Terrace Auditor Selection Committee was created in March 2010, and revised in July 2019,  in accordance with Florida State Statute 218.391, which required the establishment of such a committee.  The Auditor Selection Committee is comprised of a City Council Member, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and a City Resident with financial or accounting experience.  The City Manager and/or Finance Director participates during the audit firm selection process in an advisory position and provides staff support.

According to the Auditor Selection Committee Policy, the City resident is to be selected by the City Manager for a term that coincides with the expiration of the approved audit contract.  The City resident will serve on the Auditor Selection Committee with Council Member Gil Schisler and Certified Public Accountant Peter Steffens.  Meetings will be quarterly or on an as needed basis and will be held in City Hall, 11250 N. 56th Street, Temple Terrace, Florida.

Persons interested in being considered for appointment to the Auditor Selection Committee should send an email of interest and resume to Executive Assistant Jeannie Barlow at jbarlow@templeterrace.com.  Interested applicants must be City residents with financial or accounting experience.  The closing date for receiving applications is 5:00 pm on Tuesday, October 29, 2019.

•   Neighborhood Sweeps - The Central northeast neighborhoods (Zone 5) including the communities bounded by E. Fowler Avenue to the south, Druid Hills Road to the north, North Riverhills Drive to the west,  and North 62nd Street to the east have been selected for inspection, beginning Thursday, October 24 and continuing through the end of the week. These inspections will take place between 8am and 5pm. Code enforcement officers will be in this neighborhood to verify that dwellings, accessory structures, yards and vehicles are consistent with City Code standards. Officers will not walk onto  property to inspect it. If a violation is observed from the right-of-way, a courtesy notice will be left  identifying the item(s) of concern.

•  Alert Temple Terrace – The City of Temple Terrace is now working with Everbridge, a leader in unified critical communications, to keep residents, businesses, staff and emergency personnel safe and informed with quick and reliable emergency notifications. The City  will use Alert Temple Terrace to communicate with citizens and businesses during emergencies and other critical events. Residents and businesses are encouraged to register to receive these alerts. (Those who previously signed up for emergency notifications using the legacy RapidNotify Emergency System also should register.) The opt-in website for both RapidNotify and new subscribers is www.templeterrace.com/alerttempleterrace.

The Emergency Notification System will provide a variety of alerts, ranging from missing children,  police and fire threats and severe weather warnings. Messages will be sent to subscribers on their preferred contact paths — email, cell/home phone, SMS (text), Push Notification, TTY/TDD and more — to ensure real-time access to potentially lifesaving information. Residents and businesses listed in the City of Temple Terrace 911 database will be automatically subscribed to alerts by landline phone. Everbridge also allows citizens and businesses to self-register, provide additional contact information, or to opt-out.
